Some random notes and observations from Georgia’s win over Vanderbilt and a topsy-turvy weekend in college football …
Brice Ramsey seems to have definitely settled in to the No. 2 QB position for the Dogs (Faton Bauta only got in for one play against Vandy, a 1-yard loss on a keeper), and Ramsey’s initial appearance on the third series of the game was scripted in advance.
He made a couple of passes and overthrew several others (he was a bit pumped up, which is to be expected), but generally seemed sure of himself and, frankly, looked better making fakes than starter Hutson [More]

When some Georgia Bulldogs fans talked this past week about wanting to see someone at quarterback other than Hutson Mason, they probably didn’t have in mind Todd Gurley.
But while backup QB Brice Ramsey getting to run a designed series as early as the first quarter of Saturday’s 44-7 Homecoming win over Vanderbilt was a bit of a surprise, the bigger eye-opener came in the second quarter when star tailback Gurley, who took quite a few direct snaps in the “Wild Dawg” formation, suddenly pulled up and launched a 50-yard pass to freshman tight end Jeb Blazevich that set up an [More]

Ah, Athens in August.
With school not yet in session and no classes to schedule around, Mark Richt and his staff have been moving right along with preseason camp, including starting two-a-days. And that’s meant …. Isaiah McKenzie turning heads with his open-field moves … Richt providing a little Dawg porn when he has the team run quick three-on-three Oklahoma drills with the media (and their camera phones) watching while Todd Gurley goes airborne (in practice!) … the daily media injury watch to see who limped off the field, who’s in what color jersey, who didn’t dress out and whether Hutson [More]

Let’s get straight to some of this week’s Junkyard Mail. …
Larry Tucker writes: Bill, Any thoughts on why we seem to miss out on so many O-Line prospects? This year the state is loaded and already the top 5 are committed to out of state schools. When was the last time we have had an O-Lineman go in the first round of the draft?
First of all, Larry, I think it’s way too early to be fretting about the 2015 recruiting class. However, you’re not alone in worrying about how the OL will perform this coming season, particularly considering all [More]
